The Indian association of Occupational Health, IAOH, was founded in 1948 by a group of enlightened industrial physicians to create awareness about occupational diseases in India and to suggest preventive measures.
IAOH is committed to make India's workplaces Healthy, Safe and Green - free from the ill-effects of workplace hazards. Our mission has assumed even more significance and relevance in the light of Bhopal tragedy and Chernobyl disaster, both of which are stark pointers to the damage which can be caused to the health of people and ecosystems.
The goals of the association are to: Create awareness about health, safety and environmental hazards of industrial processes among the public, workmen and the management of the industry particularly unorganized and hazardous sectors. Prepare time-bound projects for designing and implementing Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental protection in the industry. Liaise with the government and statuary agencies in the drafting legislation in the matters of Health, Safety and Environment and its implementation. Prepare a National Registry of Occupational Health, Safety & Environment Experts in collaboration with other agencies and provide such services to the industry. Prepare software for Medical Records for Occupational Health, Safety and Environment to provide management information.
